Lomilar from Teamliquid.net has released a cool new program, Evolution Chamber, that will help you find the fastest time to build something in StarCraft 2. Currently this is only for the Zerg race, so Terran and Protoss players are out of luck. Also, you will need Java 1.6 installed to run the program.
Using this is relatively simple – you just input numbers next to the units or buildings you would like to make. Depending on the build order that you want, this program can take from several minutes to several hours to complete the optimization.
Below in the spoiler is the output for Lomilar’s input to make 7 Roaches as fast as possible. To read the output, you’ll need to know what these little things mean:
@: Current time
M: Minerals
G: Gas
L: Larva
S: Supply count
Unit name: Build the unit
@1fc9896: Ignore, just an address
+1: Unit is done
According to BlizzCon, Blizzard’s annual convention, there are going to be 2 new leagues: Master League and Grand Master League. To reach Master League, you will have to be in the top 5% of the Diamond players. For Grand Master League, you will have to be in the top 200 players. There is no set date for these new ranks, but they will probably appear when Season 2 starts.
Dakota_Fanning on Teamliquid.net has posted an update to the awesome StarCraft II replay analyzer program: Sc2gears 3.00. This new version now supports the new v1.1 replays, has an APM alert feature to let you know when your APM is getting low, has an Animate feature to play back the replay, and more. You can read the entire version history by clicking here. If you haven’t already, you should try out this program and prepare to be amazed!

sockfolder from Teamliquid.net has found a nice trick that you can use with your drones/scvs/probes to gain a little extra income. Basically, when your worker finishes gathering minerals, they stand for half a second before turning around to bring it back to your base. sockfolder discovered that if you press the Return Cargo button on the worker, it will immediately turn around, thus giving you minerals faster. So to make this trick work well, you need to queue up the commands for each worker.
Select a worker that is holding minerals and follow below:
Hold Shift
Press C (Return Cargo)
Right click the mineral patch it was gathering from
Repeat steps 2 and 3 quickly
Be sure the last command queued up is the right click
Repeat the whole process for the other workers
According to sockfolder, after 5 minutes of normal mining, a worker would gather 495 minerals. A worker with boosted mining, would gather 530 minerals, which is 7% more! Check out the video created by Trebis below to see this trick in action.

For those people who are in a college and love to play StarCraft 2, now is the time to join the Collegiate StarLeague. The CSL is where your school team will play against other schools. There are already over 130 teams registered, and if you don’t see your school listed, you can create it and tell your classmates to join! “Five 1-on-1 games of pure competitive StarCraft every week; live audience, commentators, and internet stream optional” is the formula that makes the CSL so awesome.
Registration ends on September 25th and you have to get 4-5 players in your team by October 3rd to play this season which starts on the weekend of October 16-17. Visit the CSL website to get more information: http://www.cstarleague.com
